You are not here merely to make a living. You are here in order to enable the world to live more amply, with greater vision, with a finer spirit of hope and achievement. You are here to enrich the world, and you impoverish yourself if you forget the errand.” -Woodrow Wilson

Leaders have vision. They share a dream and offer direction that other people believe in, want to follow and desire to be a part of. Being able to compel individuals to act is a true indicator of successful leadership.

To speak of good leadership is to speak of protecting and advancing widely accepted principles through a means to an end. Many times that requires a person who is willing to roll up their sleeves and put the pedal to the meddle. It’s through a leader’s actions or what he or she does and says consistently that the principles of great leadership become apparent.

Leadership should have nothing to do with title, position or the size of your bank account. There are many examples of leadership in people who have little or zero previous experience. To lead well you must be able to articulate your purpose and vision, build a strong inner circle and carry out sound strategy. Strong leaders also empower others to move forward playing an important role in whatever mission or goal is at hand. It doesn’t matter if you’re running a charity or a business.
